Lightwire engineers can confirm that this was an issue with the upstream carriers network. A fix has been implemented by the upstream carrier, and they are continuing to monitor the situation.

History:

[2026-07-28 13:16:53 NZST] Lightwire Engineers have observed an upstream carrier handover flap, resulting in an estimated 45 second outage.

We are still investigating the cause but all circuits appear to have recovered.

[2026-07-28 13:05:03 NZST] Lightwire Engineers are investigating a potential issue affecting Lightwire services. We don't have much detail just yet sorry, but senior engineers are looking into it with urgency and we will provide more information as soon as possible.

Latest update:

The Lightwire Technician was able to replace the faulty gear at our Tower yesterday, and restore connectivity. The service has remained stable for 24 hours since, so we are expecting this to be resolved now.

[2026-07-27 08:50:25 NZST] A Lightwire technician has been dispatched to the affected tower, and is expected to arrive on site around 11:00 AM to begin the repair works.
